WHO SUPPORTED THE WAR?

The South side mostly supported the war because they didn't want to lose their right to own slaves. This was one of the most controversial wars because it was splitting up America.

CASUALTIES


There was a total of 620,000 deaths. Many soldiers died from diseases, and died as prisoners in the Sumter POW camp. There were 50,000 survivors, most of which were amputees.

Civil War Technology


Railroads, women and child spies, "Coffee Mill" Gun, Balloons, Land Mines, Ironclads, Medicines like chloroform and anesthetics were used on the North side.

WHO WON


The North Side Won, they had some advantages like, banking, factories and ships, more railroads to move supplies, a larger Navy, an experienced government, and a larger population.

WHO & WHY


It was the North against the South, The Union against the Confederates. When Lincoln was voted into office the confederates felt threatened knowing that he was going to abolish slavery. The Emancipation Proclamaation was passed in 1863. The North no longer relied on slaves for labor, but the South did.

WHEN & WHERE

The Civil War took place in 1861. It was fought all over the United States, in such places like Fort Sumter, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, and Fredericksburg.
